- Why is Summary empty?
- When you edit a page the edit Summary field, below the Edit field and just above the Save page button, is a per edit summary. So yes, it starts empty each time you edit. Type a brief note about your edit there. The edit summary shows under a page's View History tab and in the site wide Recent changes to help people understand what you edited. It is polite and helpful to summarize your edit before you click Save page, eg "spelling," "clarity", "organized the sections," when you edit text written by someone else.
